The Adult Entertainment Portrait Project is an ongoing body of work about people whose professional lives involve sexuality, performance, visibility, and the camera.
The project combines portrait photography with recorded conversations with performers, creators, producers, models, and other people working across the adult entertainment industry. It is the central project in my practice during 2026.

About the project
My relationship to this field is partly personal. Before entering art school, I had first-hand experience of its working environments, including performance and production. I am now returning to the subject through artistic research, portrait photography, and conversation.
The project looks at visibility, work, self-presentation, judgement, desire, exposure, and the difference between being seen and being known. Each portrait is developed alongside a conversation with the participant about their experience of the industry and the ways they understand their own image.
I am developing the work towards a book, a gallery exhibition, a body of written research, and a larger photographic archive.
The essay Visibility Without Knowledge sets out the theoretical foundation of the project.
Pornography creates an unusually strong promise of access to the body. Even extreme bodily visibility, however, does not make a person fully knowable. A performer may show a great deal while continuing to remain private, complex, and resistant to the viewer’s assumptions.
The portraits begin within this gap between exposure and knowledge. They consider how a person can be present in an image without becoming fully available through it.
