N1

Online exhibition · May 2020
Curated by Victoria Shaminova

Made during the first year of the pandemic, N1 brings together small acrylic paintings on photographs from my own archive. The photographs were taken over several years; the painted works were made in 2020. This was my first solo online exhibition.

Paint moves across faces, bodies and everyday places, introducing creatures and unexpected events. The titles give these encounters their own stories: a war duck, a toxic snake, a pale librarian, exhausted dreams coming home from a night shift.
